Rebelution - Takin' It To The Streets

iTunes and Billboard chart topping group Rebelution announces their headlining Winter 2010 tour alongside acclaimed reggae artist SOJA and critically acclaimed hip-hop legends ZION-I. Continuing with their constant touring schedule, which saw them play over 70 shows and a dozen festivals this year, with their most recent trek across the country selling out many venues including markets in which the band had never previously performed.

Based in Santa Barbara, Rebelution will be headlining 39 performances nationwide throughout January, February, and March 2010. Venues will be in the one thousand to two thousand capacity range, 19 of them House of Blues main rooms. The band has rapidly grown into one of the most notable reggae artists in the music industry today, after the release of their sophomore album “Bright Side of Life” dominated the iTunes charts in August 2009, capturing the #3 spot for top albums downloaded in the United States in all genres, and the #1 spot in the reggae music genre. Rebelution went on to garner the #54 spot on the Billboard Top 200, #7 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums charts and #1 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums charts.

Rebelution recently finished a 52 city tour across the United States, playing sold out shows at venues such as The Fillmore in San Francisco, The House of Blues in West Hollywood, HOB Anaheim, HOB San Diego, Paradise Rock in Boston, The Note in Westchester, Neumos in Seattle, The Social in Orlando, Fox Theatre in Boulder, Norva in Norfolk and Music Farm in Charleston to name a few. They have shared the stage with artists such as The Offspring, 311, Slightly Stoopid, Willie Nelson, Damian Marley, Bob Dylan, and Ludacris.

Touring with Rebelution is Washington D.C.’s SOJA who released their third full-length album “Born in Babylon” in August 2009. The album debuted at #1 on the iTunes reggae charts, and #3 on Billboard’s Top Reggae Album charts. The band is known as a road warrior, averaging 150 shows a year visiting every major city in the United States, and playing internationally for crowds of up to 16,000 people. They have shared the stage with notable artists such as Citizen Cope, Matisyahu, Ben Harper, Slightly Stoopid, Damian Marley, Govt Mule, Umphrees McGee, and Steel Pulse.

Also touring with Rebelution is Oakland based, hip-hop legends ZION-I. The duo consists of producer and DJ AmpLive and emcee Zumbi. They are best known for their futuristic production techniques, using a mix of live instrumentation and samples, and their poetic, positive, and socially conscious lyrics.

Psychostick Hit The Road For Winter Tour

The comedy metal band Psychostick will be hitting the road in November for a week of dates with Mower followed by a three-week solo stint of the Midwest and east coast.

The word is out: EVERCLEAR is back, better than ever, and ready to re-connect with their audience. Frontman Art Alexakis has gone back to basics: recruiting a new band, releasing In A Different Light, a new album that reinterprets the Everclear songbook with some fresh surprises, and finally returning to the road, to the delight of fans nationwide.

Alexakis says, "It's so amazing to see the enthusiasm and intensity of our fans.....not to mention the diversity in age...they range from 15 to 50...it's great to see kids who were in middle school singing all the words to every song!"

In A Different Light is the band's first release on record label 429 Records, and, in celebration, finds the band revisiting their past work with refreshed, stripped-down arrangements of some of their best songs. Classics such as "Everything to Everyone," "Santa Monica," and "Father of Mine" stand comfortably alongside new tracks "At the End of The Day" and "Here Comes the Darkness." Like many rock greats before them, Everclear revisits their back pages with ease, intrigue, and a more mature perspective, making for an album that is a listening experience in itself.

With new members, bassist Freddy Herrera, guitarist Johnny Hawthorn, keyboardist Sasha Smith and drummer Jordan Plosky, Alexakis has been performing a slew of intimate tour dates with a rejuvenated Everclear, packing clubs and reconnecting with longtime fans around the country - proving that the band is as vital and needed today as ever before. Echo & The Bunnymen/Hatcham Social

They don't make them like this anymore... the well-scrubbed Londoneering indiepoptastic quartet Hatcham Social consist of Toby Kidd (vocals / guitar), Finn Kidd (drums), Dave ineberg (bass / vocals) and multi-tasking new boy Jerome Watson (synth / guitar). You Dig the Tunnel, I'll Hide the Soil is Hatcham Social's debut album. Recorded at big mushroom studios in the north of England with the Charlatans singer Tim Burgess and Jim Spencer at the controls this is a spiky, sparky collection of itching pop tunes which hark back to a time of musical innocence. Live favourites 'So So Happy Making' and 'Penelope (under my hat)' make a reappearance but other than those old lags this is a set of brand new songs highlighted by the tetchy lead off single 'Murder in the Dark', the exotic spoken word dramatics of 'Jabberwocky' and the frankly
terrific summer-anthem-in-waiting 'Sidewalk'.

You couldn't accuse the Hatcham boys of rushing things either: in the past two years they have released four limited edition independent singles, compiled two mini-album cassette, played over 200 gigs (including selling out the 100 Club in London and the Fleche D'or in Paris) and enraptured countless music lovers with the sort of charmingly jagged old school alternative stance several of us thought had been destroyed forever by the corporate indie boomtime of the
early noughties.

In 2008 alone they toured the UK with the Charlatans and then with Ipso Facto. They released their 'Crystal World' mini-album in Japan and signed to TBD Records in North America, becoming Radiohead's labelmates. Behind the cassette releases and the fringes and the fairly obvious admiration for the ethics, morals, tunes and drumming kittens which defined Postcard Records twenty years ago there lurks a hardboiled attitude which takes them well out of any precious indie ghetto. The Subjects On Tour

Despite their clandestine and controversial beginnings (two band members were teachers and two were students at the same high school), The Subjects have managed to carve a name for themselves that sounds more like "Rushmore" than "School of Rock." Back in 2002, guitarist Joe Smith and bassist/vocalist Dave Sheinkopf were splitting their time between writing songs and syllabi, while drummer/vocalist Matt Iwanusa and guitarist Jimmy Carbonetti were about to bust out of the same Manhattan school. Since both parties were in desperate need of a full band, they held some rehearsals and once it became clear that the quartet's chemistry was pretty damn combustible, the Subjects were born.

Fast-forward a few years and things get a bit more complicated. The Subjects’ debut is dropped (2007’s With the Ease Grace Precision and Cleverness of Human Beings) and they hit the road, at first on their own and then with the Walkmen a few months later.

“We were always serious about playing music,” says Iwanusa, “but when we started meeting and playing with bands that were making music for a living we got to see how they did it.”

Keeping that career path in mind, the Subjects dove right into the demo stages for New Soft Shoe, firing up minimalist recordings in the style of their first full-length. Once those songs were ready for a proper studio, the band headed over to Key Club Recording Co. a couple hours outside Chicago. By working closely with Key Club’s masterful engineers, William Skibbe and Jessica Ruffins (see also: rock-solid releases from Cass McCombs, The Kills and Fiery Furnaces), the Subjects were able to whip up their wildest ideas, expanding their arsenal with everything from old-fashioned organs to honky-tonk pianos to Matt’s mom on saxophone.

“A lot of the instrumentation on this record came from stuff I learned in school—stuff I never thought I’d use,” says Sheinkopf, citing his training in classical harmony.

The first thing you’ll notice about the final product is the vocals—the way the melody in “Winter Vacation” unfolds like a spare Animal Collective A-Side; the brilliant shuffleboard beats/honeyed harmonies of “Right2Know.” Beyond that, the ep spreads the Subjects’ various strengths across the divergent tastes of four distinct songwriters in just 10 minutes. Well, divergent in terms of pulling cues from several eras and subgenres. All and all, the current state of the Subjects is as cohesive as a dictator-less band gets.

“Most of the arrangements on the first record are within the constraints of a four-piece band,” explains Iwanusa. “Now everyone’s more comfortable trying to sing and play different instruments. We all stepped it up this time.”

Adelitas Way On Tour W/Shinedown & Breaking Benjamin

Las Vegas rockers, Adelitas Way will hit the road with Breaking Benjamin this winter in support of their self-titled debut, which released July 14th on Virgin/EMI Music and debuted at #16 on Billboard's Top New Artist Chart. The tour will kick off in San Antonio, TX on Sunday, November 29 and will include a number of radio holiday shows through of Midwest.

The album's kick off single, the power-rock anthem "Invincible," has earned #1 Regional Heatseekers in this week's Billboard and has climbed to top 10 on the Active Rock radio chart. "Invincible" has already been tagged as WWE Superstars theme song, been used for spots promoting the 2009 season of Monday Night Countdown on ESPN and will be used in the new WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2010 Video Game, which hits stores October 20. Since then, the single has been streamed nearly 300,000 times on Adelitas Way's MySpace page.

Owl City Announces 2010 Tour Dates

Owl City announces his first few weeks of 2010 tour dates in support of his incredibly successful label debut – Ocean Eyes – out now on Universal Republic. MySpace will offer an exclusive ticket pre-sale beginning October 16th and running through October 23rd for the tour dates. The tour kicks off January 21st at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City, MO and sees Owl City with full band in tow heading through the Midwest, Southeast and up the East Coast through mid-February. The short US tour will include special guests Lights and Deas Vail and sees the band hitting some of the smaller markets not visited this past fall. In addition, the 2010 dates come on the heels of Owl City’s first trek to China and Japan and comes before the band will make their live debut in Europe as well as Australia where they’ll be hitting the road with Cobra Starship.

All of this follows Owl City’s Fall 2009 headlining tour of North America, which has sold out in advance in every city, and earned him a cover of Pollstar (out 10/9/09) after less than a year of touring. In addition to his success on the road, “Fireflies” (the first single off Ocean Eyes) has been climbing the radio charts. As of last week the song reached #27 on Commercial Alternative, #22 on the Top 40 chart and #11 on the Hot 100 – earning him a cover of HITS (out on Wednesday 10/21, dated Friday 10/23, the new and developing artist fall special issue). To top that off, Z100 in NYC added “Fireflies” last week and the video for the song hit the Top 20 on VH1. You can also see the video on MTV, MTV2 and Fuse and the album and single sales go up each week. The album sold 16,727 this past week (#35 Billboard / +26% from LW) and has scanned 115K copies since release. The single sold 124,865 this past week (+83% from LW) with a total of 386,488 sold since release, making this artist one of the biggest gainers on the charts each week.

Adam Young started Owl City in the basement of his parent’s house in the small town of Owatonna, MN. He began capturing the hearts and ears of many with his first self-released, digital EP Of June back in 2007. Soon after, in 2008, he self-released the digital full-length Maybe I’m Dreaming and quickly became a MySpace phenomenon. He amassed millions and millions of plays and profile views and the word began to spread. The excitement was building for his Universal Republic debut Ocean Eyes and sales were amazing out of the gate with the album debuting at #27 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. Tegan And Sara Announce U.S. Tour Dates

One of the most celebrated and beloved forces in modern music, Canadian pop-rock icons Tegan and Sara will release their eagerly awaited sixth studio album, entitled Sainthood, on October 27th on Sire/Vapor Records.

Sainthood was produced by Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla (who also produced 2007’s critically applauded The Con) and Howard Redekopp (who produced 2004’s groundbreaking effort So Jealous) and mixed by Grammy Award winner Dave Sardy (Oasis, Primal Scream, Marilyn Manson).

Tegan and Sara have announced their US tour plans for Febuary, April, and May 2010! The pre-sale for tickets starts this Wednesday October 14th at 10am, the password for all pre-sales is Sainthood. The public on-sale starts at 10am on Friday October 16th. Also be on the look out for the video for "Hell" coming soon.

Tegan and Sara have also recently completed their first ever set of books, titled ON, IN, AT. The three-book set chronicles different time periods in writing and photographs from the past year of Tegan and Sara's lives: their 2008 US national tour, their 2009 Australian tour, and a joint writing session in New Orleans for the new album. The books are being released in conjunction with the Sainthood pre-sale.

To celebrate the release of Sainthood, Tegan and Sara will perform four very special shows: October 25th and 26th at Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theater, and October 30th and 31st at New York City’s Town Hall. Tickets for all shows are on-sale now.

Shwayze has announced they will join their friends LMFAO on the Party Rock Tour!
Shwayze is set to release their sophomore album, "Let It Beat" on November 3rd, 2009, just 2 days before the tour begins. Shwayze?s first album, the self-titled Shwayze, rocketed the duo into world wide success. A string of multiple hits ("Buzzin'," "Corona and Lime") fueled by millions of internet plays carried them to top ten album sales, landed them a coveted slot on the Vans Warped Tour, and turned them into reality television stars on MTV.

Rain Machine Tours With Pixies

Kyp Malone's acclaimed new solo project Rain Machine is currently on tour getting rave reviews. Known for his work fronting celebrated Brooklyn art-dance ensemble TV on Radio, Malone's new endeavor is a boundary pushing yet soulful amalgamation of musical styles crystallized by his distinctive and provocative lyrical imagery and voice.

British publication NME said of a recent Rain Machine performance: "Kyp Malone's new project surpasses even his day job band for sheer inventiveness... It's undoubtedly one of the most wildly inventive and entertaining things anyone will hear all year." The Wall Street Journal remarked of the same show: "... despite the smaller band, the music musters the same swells and rising action that characterizes his better-known band. When they played a complicated song called "Give Blood," the crowd responded with noise and dance, expecting a subdued solo performance. Instead, the audience found itself a few feet away from a sound that would otherwise belong on a stage set for thousands."

...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of the Dead play the Henry Fonda Theater for Century of The Self Fall 2009 Tour

...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of the Dead bring their meandering, grunge-y, shoegaze-y, prog-y, whatever-the-hell-you-want-to-call it-y--it's just fine modern art rock music to the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood on October 8, 2009.

Since leaving Interscope shortly after the 2006 So Divided , the band has been enjoying a new sense of experimental license provided by their own label, Richter Scale Records, in partnership with Justice Records.

"We finally have the artistic freedom we've wanted, with no pressure to create radio music, no legal department to OK our artwork, and no A&R people breathing down our necks," says Conrad Keely, one of two primary and founding members of the band.

The current fall tour rides off their February 2009 release The Century Self which is something of a long-awaited return to the progressive rock roots from 2002's breakthrough Source Tags and Codes.

I don't know what you imagine with the term "prog," but a bunch of finely-tuned musicians who stand motionless while carefully plucking out intricate melodies this so-called "Trail of the Dead" ain't--I'm almost ready for the equally excellent openers Future of the Left to look like statues in comparison this Thursday.

Canada's reggae-enthused illScarlett feels like a mix of Sublime meets No Doubt with a dash of Goldfinger thrown in for good measure. A cast of chill characters raised on their parents’ Beatles and Queen records, and influenced by the likes of Nirvana, Incubus, Beck, The Police, and Foo Fighters, the Mississauga, Ontario, Canada natives built the initial framework for illScarlett’s infectious sound, perfect for fist-pumping punk/pop/reggae jams, by cultivating, shaping and finessing their songs into their own signature creations.

They could be described as a rhythm and reggae influenced, filthy dub band that takes no prisoners, but just go to an illScarlett show and you'll find a slew of sweaty, screaming kids who are fans of hip-hop, punk and emo, charged full of frenetic energy, jumping off the stage and rolling in the pit.

Currently on tour with like-minded party bros Pepper, and soon to hit the road with Big D & The Kids Table, illScarlett is winning over new fans every night. While on this most current trek the band is selling its first U.S. release, EPdemic.

When singer Alex Norman and drummer Swav Pior met in high school and started their band they had two choices - wait around on the off chance that some A&R guy was actually going to recognize talent, or take the bull by the horns and do it themselves. They chose the latter, adding compadres John Doherty (bass) and Will Marr (guitar) to complete their vision. Together they played hundreds of shows around the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), starting with a handful of faithful fans that amassed into crowds numbering over 1,000 in what seems like the blink of an eye.

The band recently finished its latest recording effort entitled 1UP! in Hollywood with three-time Grammy-winning producer Robert Carranza (Jack Johnson, Mars Volta, Beck, Ozomatli, Mindless Self Indulgence). The new album is now available in Canada.

Highly influential extreme metal band SATYRICON is set to headline a 24-city North American tour which begins on September 25th in Baltimore, MD. The revered Norwegian outfit will also release a special edition 2-CD version of its critically acclaimed latest album, The Age of Nero.

Over the course of its distinguished career, SATYRICON has been widely recognized for its distinctive sound as well as its contributions to the genre. Rain Machine Kicks Off Tour Next Week

Rain Machine is the provocative and soulful new solo venture from guitarist/songwriter extraordinaire Kyp Malone. Renowned for his work with TV on the Radio, Malone is set to kick off a North American tour next week in support of Rain Machine's remarkable self titled debut album available September 22 on Anti- Records. Stereogum remarked after hearing Rain Machine's song "Give Blood:" "It sounds like TV on the Radio thrown into a loose and scuzzed, mystical late-night basement jam. Cool track." And Spin Magazine wrote, "Kyp Malone has always been a grand provocateur, singing, "I wanna love you all the way / I wanna break your back," on last year's "Lover's Day" (from TV on the Radio's Dear Science).

So to hear Malone, with his new solo project, moaning that "it's no burnt-cork affair" on the six-and-half-minute "Smiling Black Faces" is to hear him at his most comfortable. Rain Machine doesn't have TVOTR's Berlin Wall of Sound might, but it's still an accomplished work. Quadruple-tracked vocals on the quavering "Hold You Holy" and the bone-shaking pop jangle of "Give Blood" make this the best side gig since Jack White rediscovered the drums."

The tour begins September 21st in Brooklyn.

Groundbreaking hardcore-metal band Converge will release their long anticipated new studio album, Axe To Fall, on October 20 via Epitaph (vinyl on Deathwish). Considered one of the most intense, important, and influential metal/hardcore bands ever, Converge continue their uncompromising evolution, experimenting and manipulating the fiercest form of music with the most aggressive album of the year, Axe To Fall.

Fitting like a puzzle piece in their all but flawless catalog, Axe To Fall is an undeniable progression in the band’s canon of cacophonous sound, dexterous skill and ingenious art, as thirteen of the most viciously powerful songs Converge has ever written reign down on listeners in a surge of sonic fury. True to their meticulous DIY style, guitarist Kurt Ballou helmed production duties once again from his infamous GodCity studios in Salem, MA.

Without warning, Converge lets their metal flag fly on Axe To Fall when drummer Ben Koller’s galloping beats meet Ballou’s lightning fast riffs as bassist Nate Newton provides a pummeling backbone and vocalist Jacob Bannon takes command with menacing growls on the album’s shattering opener “Dark Horse.” Perhaps Converge’s heaviest music they’ve ever recorded, the foursome invited a slew friends to contribute to the album, and the result was a wall of metal-infused hardcore on a level that’s never been heard before.

Songs like the hardcore pit-swirling “Effigy” (feat. Steve Brodsky/Lead guitar, Adam McGrath/Guitar, J.R. Connors/Drums), the furiously relentless neck-breaker “Wishing Well” (feat. Ulf Cederlund/Lead guitar/backing vocals) and the blazing thrash-track “Cutter” (feat. John Pettibone/backing vocals) keep the album moving with power and energy. As defiant as ever, Bannon roars through songs about despair and self-indulgent choices warning that “we'll show the demons for what they are.” As the album comes to a close it takes a doom-ridden turn as Neurosis’ Steve Von Till shares vocal duties with Bannon on the brooding track “Cruel Bloom” and Genghis Tron’s Mookie Singerman providing lead vocals on the beautifully dark post-metal album closer “Wretched World.”

After 19 years as a band, Converge still maintain the steadfast individuality and uncompromising artistic vision they had when they formed. White Lies Embark On Arena Tour W/ Kings Of Leon

MOJO’s Breakthrough Artist of 2009, White Lies, will perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live Sept. 10th and embark on a Fall arena tour as main support for Kings of Leon kicking off September 28th in Minneapolis, MN. The fall trek with Kings of Leon will have White Lies playing to packed crowds across the US and will culminate on October 16th with a show at the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN. Prior to these dates, White Lies will be doing a few shows on their own including a headlining performance at New York City’s famed Webster Hall on September 25th and at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on October 4th. In addition, the band’s massively successful single “Death” is on the soundtrack for the film Jennifer’s Body, alongside bands including Silversun Pickups, Little Boots, and Black Kids.

Puscifer Unveil Fall Tour Dates

Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle) brings his latest incarnation, the shape-shifting Puscifer, to cities throughout the Western U.S. for an evening the Las Vegas Review Journal dubbed as “a performance art spectacle equal parts comedy cabaret show, guerilla theater, lysergic animation sequences, Krautrock-inspired metallic jams and leering lunacy of various stripes.”

While the concept for Puscifer came to Keenan in 1995, it wasn’t until 2007 that the collective released their debut album, V is for V*****, which was followed by a remix album fittingly titled V is for V*****. Valentine’s Day 2009 saw the live debut of the outfit, as the group of musicians and comedians hosted a trio of performances at The Pearl inside the Palms Casino Resort in sin-city itself, Las Vegas.

The Charlatans’ tenth studio album, ‘You Cross My Path’, released 06/10/08, is nothing less than a masterpiece – only the latest triumph, in a career which has been positively stuffed with them.

It was one of the most talked-about records in recent years, before anyone had even heard a note of it. It was first released in early March 2008 in MP3 format, via alternative radio station Xfm’s website. In a revolutionary move, The Charlatans were charging their fans not a penny to own and enjoy their latest music.

As The Charlatans approach their twentieth anniversary, their music continues to be just as inspirational to hundreds of thousands of fans. The Used Announce Venues For Headlining Tour

Platinum-certified Reprise Records artists The Used have announced the venues for their nationwide headlining fall tour. The month-long run, which kicks off October 9th in Las Vegas, NV and runs through November 14th in Portland, Oregon, will support their new album, Artwork, out August 31, 2009. The Almost and Drive A will be supporting.

The Used have announced a special pre-sale for the tour. Early critical acclaim for the Matt Squire-produced Artwork has been effusive. Considered one of the most intense, important, and influential metal/hardcore bands ever, Converge continue their uncompromising evolution, experimenting and manipulating the fiercest form of music with the most aggressive album of the year, Axe To Fall.

Fitting like a puzzle piece in their all but flawless catalog, Axe To Fall is an undeniable progression in the band's canon of cacophonous sound, dexterous skill and ingenious art, as thirteen of the most viciously powerful songs Converge has ever written reign down on listeners in a surge of sonic fury. True to their meticulous DIY style, guitarist Kurt Ballou helmed production duties once again from his infamous GodCity studios in Salem, MA.

Drive A On Tour With The Used This Fall

California’s Drive A announces today they will be the opening act on the upcoming North American your featuring The Used and The Almost.

Fresh off of this summer’s Gig Life Tour, featuring Set Your Goals and Four Year Strong, as well as a spring tour with Alkaline Trio, Drive A continue to tour in support of their critically acclaimed debut album, Loss Of Desire, which features their first single and video “Are You Blind.”

In conjunction with the tour with The Used, Drive A will be releasing their second single, “Can’t Sleep It Off.” Best described as a musical raising of the black flag, “Can’t Sleep It Off” is their middle-finger salute to those who try to stand in the way of others by telling them what they can and cannot do. An anthem for a frustrated generation waiting for their voices to be heard, the song has quickly become a crowd favorite and a participation point in the band’s high energy live set.

In addition to the tour and next single, Drive A also officially welcomes new drummer Cody Root to their ranks. A punk rock influenced drummer from Los Angeles, Cody first came into contact with Drive A when he saw them on the 2008 LA stop of the Warped Tour. “I loved their energy,” says Root. “I never would have thought that a year later I would be in the band, had toured with Set Your Goals, and would be getting ready to hit the road with The Used. The whole experience has been killer.”

Sick Puppies' have just released a new video for their hit single "You're Going Down," which also served as the theme for WWE's Extreme Rules PPV broadcast last month. The band decided to take a less predictable route to back the popular fight anthem. The video involves kids, neighborhood bullies, and a massive water balloon fight that takes place in a pristine suburban setting. The video can be seen now on CWG TV and will make its television premiere on MTV2 and MTVu's Unleashed Tuesday, August 11. The lead single "You're Going Down," continues to gain momentum at radio charting Top 15 at Modern, Top 10 at Active Rock, and Top 30 at Rock formats.

Sick Puppies will hit the road with Shinedown this fall in support of their recent release, Tri-Polar, which was released on July 14 on RMR/Virgin Records/EMI Music. Five years. What does it all mean? Five years equals 25,336 fans, over 150 bands, 946 stage dives, 4 barbarian bouncers, 2632 cases of beer, 172 hours in line, 1 FBI Sting, 23 business suits and too many broken ribs. That, my friends is something.

In 2005 Mike Petryshyn started Riot Fest, creating his dream festival, the one he would want to attend. With one eye on the legendary Chicago punk scene and the other on the bands that inspire them, he started building the festival, with an ambitious multiple show/venue format. He put special emphasis on reuniting influential punk and underground bands who hadn’t shared the stage in years. In just five years, Petryshyn has made Riot Fest Chicago a can’t-miss series every October and will expand into Los Angeles. The Palladium, Key Club and The Roxy will field hand-picked line-ups from November 12-14.

Screeching Weasel, Dead Milkmen, Naked Raygun, The Adolescents, 88 Fingers Louie, American Steel and Teen Idols are confirmed for Riot Fest West. A limited number of 3-day passes will go on sale Saturday, August 22nd at noon PST via www.ticketweb.com for 75.00. The rest of the mind-boggling roster of bands will be announced shortly.

On the Chicago front, Apocalypse Hoboken joins the show at Congress Theater Friday October 9th with Murder City Devils, Dead Milkmen and others. For lucky pass holders who drew tickets, Riot Fest hosted the first secret show last weekend with 88 Fingers Louie. More secret shows are coming; pass holders to Riot Fest are randomly drawn to see a free show in our mysterious, secret lair. The first Drunken Bowling Tournament has just been announced at one of Chicago’s punk landmarks, the Fireside Bowl on Friday and Saturday, October 9th and 10th.

SUMMER TOUR WITH THE CAB, FALL TOUR CONFIRMED WITH CARTEL

Scottsdale, Arizona’s The Summer Set is here to keep the warm weather days going all year long with their sunny pop-punk songs. The band formed in 2007, when brothers Stephen and John Gomez, still in high school at the time, decided to start a band with local friends Brian Dales, Jess Bowen and Josh Montgomery. Before they even graduated, the young band self-released their first two EPS and sold over 20,000 copies of both to date. The Summer Set’s music has quickly created a large following for this young band with over 7.5 million plays and over 2 million profile views on MySpace.

The band’s first full length album, Love Like This (Razor & Tie), will hit stores on October 13th. Produced by Matt Grabe (The Maine, A Rocket to the Moon), the album has additional production by Matt Squire (3OH!3, Taking Back Sunday, Panic at the Disco) and also features a track co-written with Dave Katz and Sam Hollander (Metro Station, Boys Like Girls, and Gym Class Heroes). The infectious sound of The Summer Set’s power hooks, swirling synth lines, and catchy lyrics is apparent on the first single “Chelsea,” which will be available on iTunes on September 1st .

THE FALL OF TROY TO JOIN THURSDAY ON THE ROAD THIS FALL

The Fall of Troy, one of the hottest bands in the post hardcore genre, will tour this fall as direct support with Thursday, playing twenty-nine shows over a five-week period. The tour kicks off September 18 in Philadelphia, PA and will criss-cross the U.S., wrapping up in Raleigh, NC on October 24 (full itinerary below).

The Fall of Troy - guitarist/vocalist Thomas Erak, drummer Andrew Forsman, and bassist Frank Ene - are touring in support of their upcoming album, In the Unlikely Event, due out October 6. The album was produced by Terry Date (Deftones, Slipknot, Smashing Pumpkins) and recorded in Seattle earlier this year. In The Unlikely Event is Ene's first album with the band, and they are expected to debut new material on these dates. Live in concert, The Fall of Troy has become known for its blazing and relentless, full-on interactive set; one major Southern California daily called one of their shows "the best performance I've ever seen at this venue."

As with the band's previous albums, the new music on In the Unlikely Event remains unpredictable and notoriously hard to pigeonhole. From jaw-droppingly technical rock anthems like "Battleship Graveyard" and blazing punk tracks like "Straight-Jacket Keelhauled," to mathematical melodic rockers such as "A Classic Case of Transference" and the laid-back love song "Nobody's Perfect," In The Unlikely Event is an album that will satisfy long-time fans of the band - but in typical The Fall of Troy fashion, continue to challenge them as well.

All Tomorrow’s Parties (ATP) is happy to announce its return to Kutsher’s Country Club in Monticello, New York for the 2nd annual ATP New York festival. The event will be held Sept 11-13, 2009. Expect more of the same greatness in 2009, with no-holds-barred programming both musically and otherwise. Capacity limited to just 2800 people! All stages are INDOORS so rain will not be an issue!
Last year’s festival, co-curated by My Bloody Valentine, was a critical and cultural success with rave reviews from media and fans. This year’s Fest will be co-curated by The Flaming Lips.

Friday will feature the first New York show in a long time by The Jesus Lizard and ATP favourites Iron and Wine. Panda Bear will also have exclusive performance on Friday. Please note this was initially scheduled for Saturday, and Saturday ticket holders will have the option to switch to Friday if they so choose. They will join the Don’t Look Back shows also taking place on Friday: The Feelies performing Crazy Rhythms, New York’s finest Suicide performing their first LP, Dirty Three performing Ocean Songs and The Drones performing Wait Long By The River... The evening will be rounded off with the Comedy Stage hosted and curated by the one and only David Cross. Eugene Mirman, Jon Glaser and Jon Benjamin (The Fuggedabuddies), and Derrick Brown and the Navy Gravy will all be performing on the comedy stage.

Saturday is curated by ATP will feature performances by Sufjan Stevens, Animal Collective, Shellac, Circulatory System, and Grouper. Other confirmed acts include Boss Hog, Deerhunter, Bridezilla, Melvins, Black Dice, Dead Meadow, Autolux, EL-P, Akron Family, Antipop Consortium, Atlas Sound and the hotly tipped Sleepy Sun.

Sunday is curated by the outlandish Flaming Lips. Every act that plays will perform an exclusive special show, bespoke for this event. New additions to Sunday’s lineup are Hopewell, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Birds of Avalon, and Menomena. Also performing special sets - Crystal Castles, Super Furry Animals, Boris, and Low Lows. Previously announced acts include: “Oneida presents the Ocropolis" - where Oneida will transport the impetus, spirit and community of their multidisciplinary studio/performance space, The Ocropolis, to ATP. Boredoms continuing their BOADRUM series, performing with 9 drummers on stage. No Age will perform a whole LP by Husker Du with (JUST ANNOUNCED) special guest Bob Mould. Deerhoof will perform with special visuals by Martha Colburn. Crocodiles To Open For The Horrors

DEBUT ALBUM AVAILABLE NOW ON FAT POSSUM

Crocodiles will be opening for The Horrors during their U.S. tour beginning next month in Boston. Summer of Hate, Crocodiles' debut album for Fat Possum, was released earlier this year. The NY Times describes Crocodiles as a “stylish wall of throb” and Self-Titled declared their “songs take on heightened power live.”

Charles Rowell and Brandon Welchez met as teenagers in San Diego. Playing in various groups since then, the duo struck out on their own as Crocodiles in April of 2008. They quickly self-released a 7" single and used it as an excuse to escape their tar pit hometown, first touring up and down the west coast and then venturing across the whole of the US.

Crocodiles songs began slinging across the Interweb after their friends in No Age named the band's song "Neon Jesus" as one of their Top Ten shredders of 2008. Unprompted, the forward-thinking Fader Blog posted two more stunner tracks, "I Wanna Kill" and “Summer of Hate.“ Released this year, Summer of Hate features poppy vocal melodies, crushed with harsh electronic drums or lifted and left floating in spaced-out noise and echo. Loud, wiry guitars jab wildly like mutant synapses skirting along a tightrope drone.

NEW ALBUM ‘ARTWORK’ OUT AUGUST 31

Platinum-certified Reprise Records artists The Used have announced a nationwide headlining fall tour. The month-long run, which kicks off October 9th in Las Vegas, NV and runs through November 14th in Portland, Oregon, will support their new album, Artwork, out August 31, 2009. The Almost and TK will be supporting.

Early critical acclaim for the Matt Squire-produced Artwork has been effusive. Outburn (which the band currently graces the cover of) praised its “humbling ability to sound scrappy and raw while being perfectly polished and huge,” while Alternative Press states "The Used have delivered not only the definitive album of their career but arguably one of the best records you'll hear in 2009. 4 ½ stars."

The Used’s legions of fans are responding as well. The first single, “Blood On My Hands” premiered on iTunes with over 5k downloads in the first day, the highest digital debut in the band’s history. The video for the song debuted on MySpace and shot directly to the #1 spot, with 200,00 views in the first 24 hours. Canada's favorite horse-loving folk band Rock Plaza Central is busy preparing for an exciting fall tour with folk-punk pioneers The Weakerthans! Rock Plaza Central has already spent the larger part of this year on the road in North America, performing with a wide array of artists including Suckers and Laura Gibson, as well as hitting festivals such as the Wicker Park and 10,000 Lakes Festival. As their set of fall dates approaches, Rock Plaza front man and literary award winner Chris Eaton is once again looking forward to adding more to his on-the-road Twitter project. Eaton has been writing one story per day of no more than 140 characters on tour, so that he may publish them for public participation on his band's Twitter account from the road. The tweeted micro-fiction project will be published in Steel Bananas' upcoming anthology, GULCH: An Assemblage of Poetry and Prose.

Rock Plaza Central's new release ...At the Moment of Our Most Needing, or If Only They Could Turn Around, They Would Know They Weren't Alone, out now on Paper Bag Records, has been garnering positive reviews across the US and Canada. It received an 8/10 by Pitchfork and was described as "a bracing album of hope" by Popmatters. Eaton says the album was inspired by William Faulkner's Light in August , as well as groups like Palace/Oldham, Tom Waits, and Van Morrison.

The Love Grenades are currently traveling through Europe, hitting up Germany, Italy and the UK; playing festivals and meeting with several record labels. Originally they planned on staying there until just before their August 15th show at Shamrocks in Chino Hills, however, they have just been asked to play at the Henry Fonda Theater on August 7th in support of Elefant.

Before embarking on a headlining tour, they’ll open three California shows for France’s Phoenix. New Jersey post-hardcore innovators Thursday have announced their headlining fall US tour in support of their critically acclaimed new album Common Existence. The band will cross the country over Sept and Oct with experimental prog-group The Fall of Troy in main support and select dates with noise-rockers Young Widows and prog-rock band The Dear Hunter. Hailing from Springfield, Ohio, Callahan is an energetic band who strives to separate itself from the standard formula of pop-punk and has quickly caught the attention of the music industry.

Assemble Head and Sleepy Sun Take Psychedelic Sounds on the Road in September

Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound have announced a three week US tour with fellow San Francisco natives Sleepy Sun. The tour will be in support of Assemble Head's critically acclaimed third album "When Sweet Sleep Returned" released in April on Tee Pee Records.

Two of the finest bands to emerge from the 21st century San Francisco psychedelic renaissance, Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound and Sleepy Sun, will join forces this September for a three-week, coast-to-coast freakout. The tour, which officially kicks off in Providence, Rhode Island on September 17, will cover 17 dates in New England, Canada, and the Midwest before winding up October 4 in Portland, Oregon. Both bands will also play dates in New York City in the days leading up to the tour kickoff.

The cross-country caravan unites the two bands in performance for the first time outside of California. But they have already joined forces for several epic throwdowns in Northern California, including an upcoming July 31 Big Sur date with Dead Meadowand worked together in the studio, with Bret Constantino and Evan Reiss of Sleepy Sun lending harmony vocals on the latest Assemble Head release When Sweet Sleep Returned. Heaven knows what mayhem will unfold on this road ramble.

Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound's third LP, and second on Tee Pee Records, When Sweet Sleep Returned, has garnered its share of raves. And the new album finds the band moving outward from its foundation as a garage-and-Floyd-inflected heavy psych combo into sunnier, celestial, and soulful territory that conjures ghosts of Spiritualized and the Byrds while serving up molten slabs of wrecking ball, White Light scuzz n' roll. And in performance, the band ranges from high-energy fuzz thuggery to delicate reveries peppered with flute, 12-string guitar, and boy-girl harmonies.

Reel Big Fish’s "Live! In Concert!" DVD is officially in stores today!

The live concert DVD was filmed before a sold-out, hometown crowd at the Grove of Anaheim this past January and features 20 classic Reel Big Fish songs, as well as all of the in-between-song-banter-and-hijinks that fans have come to expect.

Reel Big Fish is currently on tour with Two-Tone legends The English Beat and Orlando, FL-based reggae/ska punks The Supervillains.

Reel Big Fish front man Aaron Barrett says the band is amped to be touring with one of its musical idols. Barrett explains, “We are so excited to be playing with one of our favorite bands of all time and one of the biggest influences on our music!! We LOVE the English Beat. This tour is a dream come true for us!”

This is the band’s highest chart position to date, showing tremendous growth over their 2007 debut full length So Wrong, It's Right, which debuted at #62 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. With the release of Nothing Personal, independent label Hopeless Records is also celebrating its highest ever chart debut in the company's 15-year history.

The Darlings Confirm LA Area Show with Strung Out/Pour Habit July 25th

The South Bay’s The Darlings have just confirmed a show supporting Strung Out on Saturday, July 25th at The Cobalt Cafe in the San Fernando Valley.

Hailing from LA’s South Bay beach communities of Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach, The Darlings are a proud part of the new generation of South Bay punk bands weaned on local legends like Black Flag, the Descendents, and the Circle Jerks, as well as current hometown scene leaders Pennywise. Playing a no-holds-barred, brutally honest and in-your-face style of punk rock, The Darlings are soon to make their own impact on the scene.

Maybe it’s too early to declare The Darlings as leaders of the third wave of South Bay heroes on par with the '80s scene and the '90s resurgence, but if their seven-song, self-released, self-titled EP, available now on iTunes, has anything to say, it would be ‘turn it up and get out of the way.’

Tour in support of the band's I WENT HUNGRY Charity with over 150,000 people fed to date

Legendary reggae group THE WAILERS will be heading out for a second round on their sold-out nationwide "Exodus Tour," with a date in Anaheim on July 30 at House of Blues. The show will feature a full performance of the classic 1977 album of the same name, Exodus, named "Album of the Century" by TIME Magazine, and featuring the anthem "One Love," deemed "Song of the Millennium" by the BBC. The Wailers will be using the tour to bring more attention to their "I Went Hungry," which donates unused funds from the band's hospitality riders directly to the United Nation's World Food Program. To date, the charity has already fed over 120,000 people.

Spindrift have announced that they will be embarking on a US Tour this summer that includes a string of dates supporting The Dandy Warhols and a performance at the Monolith Festival in Denver!

The band will be releasing The Legend Of God's Gun on July 21st through Tee Pee Records.

Mixing the dusty, cinematic soundscapes of old spaghetti-western films with the mind-expanding Psych Rock of modern practitioners like The Dandy Warhols and Brian Jonestown Massacre (not to mention drone forefathers The Velvet Underground), L.A.s Spindrift makes music that sounds like what one would hear while tripping in the desert on a vision quest.

Originally formed by singer/songwriter/guitarist Kirpatrick Thomas as two bands an East Coast Rock one and a West Coast version more in line with Thomas Ennio Morricone Jones the frontman bled all of the influences into one and dropped anchor in California, forming a seven-piece band (including former BJM and Warlocks members) to re-create the spooky Old West sounds in his head. The unique hybrid caught the ears of Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones early, leading him to champion the band on his popular L.A. radio show. Since then, Spindrift has worked songs into movie soundtracks most notably the indie The Legend of God's Gun, in which the bands music plays a starring role and are currently enjoying success with The West, the bands first album for the Dandy Warhols Beat the World label.

With a guitar in one hand and six-shooter in the other, neo-cosmic cowboy Kirpatrick Thomas and his current band of banditos resurrect the spirits of Ennio Morricone and Bruno Nicolai and combines them with the ghosts of Velvet Underground and Jim Morrison, weaving a dusty backdrop to a story of sin and salvation in the wild wild west.

MEZKLAH BRING THEIR WICKED ROCK'n'LATIN BEATS TO THE RHYTHM LOUNGE LONG BEACH July 18th - 9:30 PM

Alternative Latin rock band, Mezklah has survived a shoot out in El Paso, TX, toured the U.S., Latin America, Europe, Japan, and Mexico, received such praise as to have their song "Fogata" featured in Pride and Glory starring Edward Norton and Colin Farrell, and played at the first ever rock en español concert in Memphis, TN. They are supporting their sophomore album Bestia Sonika, (available on iTunes and Amazon.com) with a summer tour hitting up the south-west as well as southern California.

Mezklah's drummer and local resident of Long Beach, Matias Pizarro, is thrilled to play at Rhythm Lounge: "LBC has always been a cradle of music from
hip hop to rock to punk. In its ghettoes are where some of the most interesting racial combinations go down and somehow everyone gets along in LBC clubs. I think it's fertile ground for our Mezklah vibe."

This summer has been busy for Mezklah: a South-West tour filled with bodypainting and other exciting events, multiple shows in Los Angeles, and in between traveling and shows, Mezklah is in the studio recording their new album out later this year.

Mezklah will be in California for only a brief time and then back on the road to play in El Paso, TX and Albuquerque, NM.

After spending 200+ days on the road touring in support of their critically acclaimed debut album, “A Town and Two Cities” alt-rock band YOUR VEGAS will perform a madcap series of 13 shows and musical appearances in 32 days across New York City with additional shows being added to the schedule daily.
